Frieda Zamba Promoted to National Sales Manager

Hyperform Inc., the manufacturer of X-TRAK surf accessories and MAGMA surf wax, are proud to announce the appointment of four time world, professional surfing champion Frieda Zamba-Shaw as their new U.S. national sales manager. Frieda has been the leading sale representative for the X-TRAK brand for over ten years. Her experience, commitment and extensive brand knowledge as well as her charisma and surfing ability make her the perfect fit for the new position as the two brands prepare for an exciting period of expansion of both their domestic and international markets. Frieda will oversee all domestic sales reps and help coordinate marketing efforts and seasonal product releases.

Frieda's three consecutive title wins in 1984, 1985 & 1986 followed by a fourth title in 1988 as well as six OP Pro victories firmly established her as an icon in professional surfing. Following her retirement in 1988 Frieda repped for several major labels and still continues working for Rip Curl wetsuits and her own label Zamba Surfboards.

Among the first project to be overseen by Frieda will be the 2008 summer roll out of the all new GOODS line of traction pads from X-TRAK. Working closely with CJ and Damien Hobgood, X-TRAK has completely revampe the original four GOODS designs. The new pads will feature four new CNC cut groove patterns, updated profiles and arch configurations and dynamic new color combinations. The new pads are lighter than ever and like all X-TRAK pads feature microdot embossing.

Well, it's that time of year again. Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner and with it, Island Water Sports' Fiesta de Skim. That's right, after a year's hiatus, South Florida's biggest skim event returns to Deerfield Beach.

Last Fiesta de Skim was a huge success with over 150 entries, and this year we’re expecting an even bigger crowd. Definitely one of the fun filled skim contests of the year for all levels.

Come on out and join the Fiesta, Saturday May 3rd at Deerfield Beach Pier. Beach registrations start at 8:00 a.m. and the contest begins at 9:00 a.m. There's a $30 entry fee per contestant.

Divisions: Boys 11 & under, 12-14, 15 -17, 18 & up, Womens, as well as Best Air and Best Trick Open divisions.

New Pads from X-TRAK

The first two designs in a whole series of spring/summer pad releases are now available on the X-TRAK website and in the weeks to come in local shops. These first two designs, the INSURGENT and the WOODROW feature two unique patterns and eye popping new color combinations. 

 

The INSURGENT offers the first realistic camouflage pattern in a traction pad - not just chunks of green foam melted together but individual pieces fitted together like a fabric pattern. The one-piece pad features light weight 5mm foam, a 25mm kick-tail, 7mm triangle arch, knobby groove pattern and NanoDot embossing. The pad will initially be available in the following color combinations: charcoal/black, army green/black, tan/brown, army green/light green, light gray/dark gray, dark gray/black. 

 

The second pad, the WOODROW, utilizes the same construction techniques to create a wood-grain pattern. This one-piece pad also offers lightweight 5mm foam, a 25mm kick-tail, 7mm triangle arch, knobby groove pattern and NanoDot embossing. This pad is be offered in a more vibrant color pallet: navy/purple, dark orange/light orange, dark green/light green, charcoal/black, navy/blue and tan/brown. 

 

The Insurgent and the Woodrow are the first of many new pads that will be released in the weeks and months to come. Next up will be a complete revamp of the four  GOODS Series pads. The GOODS Series has been developed in close collaboration with WCT surfers and former world champion CJ and Damien Hobgood. Both of the Hobgoods have had a hand in pattern design, arch and kick placement as well as color selection. All GOODS pads utilize state-of-the-art CNC machine technology to create a truly unique look and feel while allowing us to offer each pad with its own specific traction pattern. Look for these pads to be released in the days to come.

 

These pads, like all X-TRAK pads are MADE IN THE U.S.A. If your pad isn't X-TRAK it was most likely made by a guy in China who has never even seen a surfboard. Our pads are designed, manufactured and tested by surfers and we believe the difference shows in the quality of our pads.
